April 12th. 2009 - NEW SONG, SJÄLVMORDET

Swedish rapper Ken Ring decided to write a song about "The Syriac Genocide". Not only is that ignorant but very disrespectful to ALL Assyrians who fell victims of the Turkish and Kurdish violence in the early 1900's.

Assyrians were deliberately kept out of his song because even the sample in the intro was edited to remove when the politician mentions the "Assyrian/Syriac people". Many Assyrians felt insulted by this, me included.I wrote a reply to Ken Ring and Massi on their song "Folkmordet". (Sorry but it's in Swedish)

Feb 25th. 2009 - NEW PRODUCTION, A LETTER TO MY UNBORN DAUGHTER.

During my 2006 coast to coast USA tour I met an extraordinary woman, poet, singer and actress, Christina Ghubril. Physically manifested in this tiny little person lied so much power, so much emotion and that kind of inner and outer beauty that just knocks you off your feet. She had me crying in the middle of her poetry reading at the Nuyorican Poetry Club and I had to introduce myself.

I told her about my tour, my ambition to record with people from the cities I passed through and of course told her that I wanted to work with her. Said and done. She came to my place in Jackson Heights, Queens one rainy day and recorded some amazing poetry. It will be released later this year together with a documentary about my trip, but that's not what I want to bring you today.

After parting ways we've kept in touch and I've always had this crush on her and the work she does so when she sent me some of her new work I was inspired to write some more music to it. Said and done, here is our brand new Malta - New York collaboration where I've produced the music to her magical words. I hope you like it.

Feb 17th. 2009 - NEW SONG, ENJOY THE SILENCE.

Funny story. I was in the kitchen having breakfast and as I was finished and walked into my bedroom, two cars honked at the same time as they passed by my house. It created a beautiful harmony and for some reason I was so inspired by this that I found the two notes on my keyboard and turned it into a song. Strange huh? Well, considering that most of my ideas come to me when I'm in the toilet or showering, this isn't all that strange.

The title of the song is "Enjoy the silence" and the words were written a few years ago and you can actually find it being performed live on youtube during my 2006 tour together with some anonymous beatboxer who had asked to perform with me that night.

Nov 16th. 2008 - NEW SONG, A DARK PLACE.

It took many re-recordings but I finally felt pretty happy with the results that came from todays work. It's a brand new song, something I wrote when I was feeling... well, I was in a very dark place, which is the title of the song. I have written and performed the lyrics but the music is created by Daniel Licht, taken from the Dexter Original Soundtrack (with a few minor modifications in arrangement by me). Oct  13. 2008 - WORKING WITH ROSIE MALEK-YONAN

A few days ago I was speaking to my friend Rosie and she was showing me this text she had just written. I thought it would be perfect to turn it into a spoken word piece and add music to it. Said and done. After about 12 recordings she finally nailed it, sent it to me via the web all the way from LA to Malta and I added music to it.

Aug 17. 2008 - INTRODUCING DJ EMIL BRIKHA!

I am proud to say I have no finally released my first official DJ MIX with it's own section on my website. This first one is a 42 minute mix with various hiphop and r&b from past and present.

All of my DJ sessions are always improvised, mixed on the spot and never planned. I simply choose one song to start with and go from that. Other DJs plan ahead to make it sound as good as possible but that doesn't say anything about how the DJ would perform in a live situation with people making requests and having to improvise and read the crowd properly. Enough talking, I hope you will enjoy my music.

May 29. 2008 - 2 NEW SONGS TO BE DOWNLOADED!

In all my enthusiasm to release my songs on my blogs and put them in the media player here to the left I kind of forgot my old tradition of free MP3 which this years celebrates 10 years in action. Not a lot of musicians had the belief I had in MP3 or file sharing but I'm glad the record industry is finally crashing down. May 21. 2008 - New Old MP3 Released on CD, Now on Website!

During my USA tour of 2006 I had a show in New York at the legendary Bowery Poetry Club. One of the songs was so liked that the people behind the club decided to put it on the "Best or Urbana 2006" CD. It is a live recording from the show and I just released it as a MP3 for you. February 24. 2008 - EVERY STAR NEEDS FANS, RIGHT?

Time changes everything and what used to be an almost daily or at the very least weekly updated website has now been reduced to a high tech business card. You can read about me if you don't know me, see my videos and pictures if you don't know what I look like (or if you have an fetish for short Assyrian men with a lot of hair) and listen to my music  if you don't know what I sound like.

Do not mistake the lack of updates for lack of being active on my part. Most of you already know that I write quite frequently in my blog. There you can read poetry, articles or just general observations and situations I'm in. You also get to sneek peak on my new work as well which leads me to my next point.

I am currently working on several new songs, most of them electronica oriented in one or another way. These songs will be released later this summer and every once in a while some of them leak out... kind of like the song you are hearing right now in the media player to the left.

I was contacted by this super hot Greek chic online who desperatly wanted to sleep with me. Okay, she didn't want to sleep with me but she was super hot. Okay, she wasn't super hot but she wanted me to do a remix of one of her songs, she was Greek though! You will here what it sounds like and you will dance your ass off to it when you hear it next week. Because that's when it will be released.

August 12th. 2007 - UPDATED FOCUS

My music and poetry has for a long time been the dominating creating tool for me in my life. Not that I regret anything said and done but I feel I have put my passion for photography to the side, a little bit to much.
